The Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Class (WSI) will certify you to teach all levels of Red Cross Swimming lessons to children, adults and individuals with special needs. This 30-hour course will consist of both pool and classroom time. Through video and hands-on skill building, in and out of the water, the Water Safety Instructor course is designed to train instructors to use a variety of teaching strategies, including: class management techniques, lesson planning and execution, observation and assessment, and new tools to be a great instructor. Coursework must be downloaded and viewable on a technology device, brought to class. Additional coursework completed outside of the scheduled sessions will also be required. Participants must be 16 years of age by the final day of the course. A preliminary swimming skills pretest is also required. Please bring a suit, goggles and towel. Minimum 6 students required.

Swim Skills Pretest Includes:
25 yards each of: Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle, Elementary Backstroke and Sidestroke
15 yards of Butterfly
1 min. tread water AND 1 min. back float

Course Dates & Times: 

VIRTUAL DAY: Saturday, February 22 from 8:00 am-1:00 pm virtual and 1-5 pm on your own (Done virtually via a Google classroom) Remainder of day (1 until 5 pm will be done on student's own time or those hours will be completed prior to next session date.)

IN-PERSON: Saturday, March 1 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm

IN-PERSON: Sunday, March 2 from 8:00 am-5:00 pm
