Basketball: Boys & Girls, Gr. 2-3
Grades 2 & 3Coaches Goudy & Flick Calling all 2nd and 3rd graders interested in honing their basketball skills and experiencing friendly competition with their DC friends! This program is designed to develop their basketball skills while being introduced to competitive play in a fun, supportive environment. Each session emphasizes skill development, team concepts, and competing in 3-on-3 games which will provide valuable game experience. The 3-on-3 format offers more ball touches, involvement, and decision-making opportunities than traditional 5-on-5, making it an ideal transition from the foundational skills taught in K–1 basketball and the structure and intensity of travel basketball in 4th grade. Participants must bring their own 27.5" basketball, which can be purchased through Community Ed if needed. Players may wear a reversible youth jersey if they own one. A jersey will be provided for those that do not. Parent Volunteer Refs: We're also seeking parent volunteers to serve as referees for the 3 on 3 games. Interested parents will receive training at the first practice, and depending on their involvement, a portion of their child's program fee will be refunded at the end of the season. Join us for a season of skill-building, teamwork, and fun on the court! -
