3D Printing: Jewelry Design
Grades 2-6 The ancient craft of jewelry making is brought to the modern world using TinkerCAD! Students will learn to build 3D models to design a pair of earrings and a ring. One design will be printed offline and mailed home. Basketball: Boys & Girls, Gr. 2-3
Grades 2 & 3Coaches Goudy & Flick Calling all 2nd and 3rd graders interested in honing their basketball skills and experiencing friendly competition with their DC friends! This program is designed to develop their basketball skills while being introduced to competitive play in a fun, supportive environment. Each session emphasizes skill development, team concepts, and competing in 3-on-3 games which will provide valuable game experience. The 3-on-3 format offers more ball touches, involvement, and decision-making opportunities than traditional 5-on-5, making it an ideal transition from the foundational skills taught in K–1 basketball and the structure and intensity of travel basketball in 4th grade. Participants must bring their own 27.5" basketball, which can be purchased through Community Ed if needed. Players may wear a reversible youth jersey if they own one. A jersey will be provided for those that do not. Parent Volunteer Refs: We're also seeking parent volunteers to serve as referees for the 3 on 3 games. Interested parents will receive training at the first practice, and depending on their involvement, a portion of their child's program fee will be refunded at the end of the season. Basketball: Traveling
Grades 4-6Dassel-Cokato Youth Basketball Assn. (DCYBA) & Parent Volunteer Coaches This competitive traveling basketball league is designed for 4th through 6th graders. The season spans from November through early March. Teams will practice weekly, with games or tournaments typically held on weekends. 4th graders will practice once or twice a week, while 5th and 6th graders will practice twice a week. Coaches will organize league play and tournaments. Games will take place at various venues, and parents are responsible for transportation. Players will also get the chance to showcase their skills during the halftime of a home varsity basketball game, with players and parents receiving free admission. Prior basketball experience or knowledge is recommended for those interested in joining this competitive league. Practice Schedule:Practices begin in early November, with specific dates and times contingent upon gym availability. Practice schedules will be published on the Community Education website approximately two weeks before practices begin. Game Schedule: Games are scheduled for Saturdays starting in December, with specific dates to be determined (TBD). Additionally, some tournaments may occur on Sundays. Personalized Jersey• Returning Players: please confirm if you still have your jersey and specify your jersey number. • New players or those needing a replacement must purchase a new reversible jersey. Athletic Shorts: Players should bring their own navy athletic shorts. -
Cheerleading: Charger Junior Cheer
Grades K-6Instructors: DC Cheer Coaches, Stephine Paech & Lexi Hanson Join the Dassel-Cokato Cheerleaders and perform during halftime for the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 3! Open to students in grades K–6, this fun and energetic program is a great introduction to cheerleading. Participants will play games, learn basic cheer skills, and work together to create a routine that includes dance, cheer, jumps, and stunts. Registration includes a t-shirt, poms, and bow. Please indicate your child’s t-shirt size at the time of registration. To guarantee a shirt, register by September 15. Child & Babysitting Safety Program
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute offers comprehensive training to ensure safe and successful babysitting. It covers everything from starting a babysitting business to essential safety, caregiving, and first aid practices. Upon completing the course and meeting the core learning objectives, students receive a certification valid for two years, and instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. -

Code Championship Tournament Series/Virtual Competition
Grades 3-9 Build a computer bot to play head-to-head against other coders! Whether this is your first Code Championship event, or if you've been competing for years, this is the perfect way to explore the competitive coding world of Code Championship. No previous coding experience necessary. The Code Championship Series is a series of four tournaments in four weeks (it's ok to miss one or two). These tournaments will be hosted online using Google Meet and the Code Championship website. If you have a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox, no additional download is required. First Lego League
Grades 5-8Instructors: Teresa Harmala, Brett Salmen, John Barberg, Patrick Schuette FIRST LEGO League Challenge is a global robotics program that engages students in hands-on STEM experiences. Teams design, build, and program an autonomous LEGO SPIKE PRIME robot to complete themed missions in the Robot Game, while also tackling a real-world problem in the Innovation Project. Each season is rooted in FIRST Core Values—teamwork, inclusion, and discovery—and concludes with a regional competition. This year’s theme, UNEARTHED™, invites teams to explore archaeology. Students will research, prototype, test, and share creative solutions inspired by the field, blending science, coding, and engineering. Team members typically practice once a week to prepare for the following judged areas: Core Values:Teamwork, inclusion, and gracious professionalism. Robot Design & Programming: Engineering process and strategy behind robot creation. The Robot Game: Robots compete in three 2.5-minute matches to complete missions and earn points. The Innovation Project: Research, propose, and present a solution to a real-world problem. A regional tournament is held between late-Nov and mid-Dec. on a Saturday or Sunday, depending on tournament selection, which happens in early Oct. It is the parent's responsibility to transport their child to competitions. In year's past this event has been held in Alexandria in mid-December. Football: Instructional League
Grades 1 & 2 Join us for action-packed Saturdays as young athletes learn the fundamentals of football in a fun and supportive environment. Each session includes warm-ups, basic skill development, age-appropriate games, and an introduction to football rules — all centered around teamwork and fun. Participants will have the exciting opportunity to play during halftime of the home varsity football game on September 19 — with free admission for players and their parents! Additionally, kids are invited to test their skills at Kick, Pass & Punt Night on September 22 from 6:15–7:15 p.m. at the football stadium (participation optional). Football: Tackle Football: Gr. 5-6
This football program emphasizes both the fundamentals of tackle football and executing plays. Team rosters, assigned by coaches, will rotate weekly, allowing players to gain diverse game experience. Participants will compete against teams from the surrounding area as part of the Wright Co. Youth Football League, playing four Saturday morning games consisting of two 30-minute running halves. Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from games. Additionally, players will have the exciting opportunity to play during halftime of a home varsity game on Oct. 10, with free admission for both players and parents. All necessary football equipment, including mouthguards, will be provided. Players only need to bring tennis shoes or cleats (no metal spikes). Personal football equipment is not permitted. Equipment and locker assignments will be distributed during the Equipment Handout on August 25. Attendance is strongly encouraged to ensure players are properly fitted before the first practice. Tumblers Level 1-4, Grades K-6 Level Placement: If your child is new to our Tumblers gymnastics program and believes they have skills beyond Level 1, a placement evaluation is required for Levels 2-4. Tumblers 1: This class teaches beginning tumbling with an emphasis on Floor skills; in addition, it also introduces your gymnast to the Vault, Bars and Beam. This is the next level for those gymnasts who have mastered the basic skill sets required in Levels 1 & 2. This level will continue to strengthen those skills already obtained. Gymnasts must master these skills to advance to Tumblers 4: back extension, run hurdle round-off, handstand forward roll, front handspring, pullover, back hip circle & shooting star/underswing dismount. After completing Levels 1-3, this level will be the next challenge; mastery of previous skills will continue and an increased attention to the development of more difficult skills will be emphasized. Conditioning will be introduced to assist in becoming stronger and more confident. The coach’s placement is required for this level. Skills acquired in this level, but not limited to, include: back walkover, front handspring, back handspring, start of aerial cartwheel, kips, squat on, tap swings & clear hip circle. Instructor: Chad Miller Developmental Groups (Approx. ages 12 & under): Swimmers will be guided through the levels of competition they are developmentally ready for, learning about themselves as athletes along the way. Swimmers are grouped by skill level, not necessarily by age. It is recommended to have passed Red Cross Level 4 to participate White Level (Approx. ages 12 & under): Requirement: Able to swim 25's of freestyle and backstroke. Silver Level (Approx. ages 12 & under): Requirement: Able to complete 50's in all four strokes, and 100 IM. Swimmers in this level will also be able to swim in Hutchinson with a USA Swimming Membership. A maximum of 4 practices a week are included. Age Group (Approx. ages 12 & under): This is our highest level of developmental age group competitive swimming where swimmers are proficient in all four strokes. Workouts consist of approx. 3,000 yards. Swimmers in this level will also be able to swim in Hutchinson with a USA Swimming Membership. A maximum of 5 practices a week are included. Senior Groups (Approx. ages 13 & Above): These groups are considered our competitive program for developed swimmers. These swimmers have a maturity level that enables them to be self motivated and responsible for their swimming success. Senior (Approx. ages 13 & Above): These athletes are fully committed to swimming and the team as a priority and will show that commitment through being a good example at all times. Swimmers in this level will also be able to swim additional days in Hutchinson with a USA Swimming Membership. A maximum of 5 practices a week are included. Maintenance (Approx. ages 13 & above): These athletes are staying in shape or preparing for their upcoming high school sports season. A maximum of 3 practices a week are included.
