  • Band Lessons for Beginners

    2025-2026 School Year Grade 4 (Fall 2026 Grade 5) Instructor: MS Band Director Jay Downie Get a jump start on middle school band all before the school year begins. By taking lessons in the summer students will learn the fundamentals of playing a band instrument. Lessons will start at the basics with how to properly assemble their instrument, making a proper sound and become familiar with the first several pages in their method book. Method books are required as part of MS Band and they can be purchased at the beginning of summer lessons from the instructor. If a student did not participate in the band tryout sessions mid-April and are still interested in joining band a tryout session can be scheduled with the instructor before the end of the school year. If a current middle schooler, grade 5-8, has not participated in band previously they could enroll in these lessons in preparation of joining band this upcoming school year. Please Note: If students are using a personal instrument instead of renting from Eckroth Music, please make sure it is in good working order prior to lessons beginning so that your students has the best experience.

    Instructors: Varsity Basketball Coaches This three day mini camp will focus on the fundamentals of basketball and help athletes improve ball handling, shooting form, decision making, and defense through drills and different game scenarios. Be sure to bring your basketball and water to each session.

    Join Coach Goudy this summer for a fun, high-energy experience in the gym while building your basketball skills! Sessions will focus on ball handling, passing, finishing, and shooting, with 3-on-3 games played each day. If you have a youth-sized basketball, please bring it with you.   • Basketball: Grades K & 1

    All boys and girls in grades K-1 are invited to join us for a fun and safe introduction to basketball through our recreational Saturday program. Participants will learn basic basketball skills and enjoy playing in a supportive environment. As a highlight, players will have the exciting opportunity to participate during halftime of a home varsity basketball game (date to be determined). Both players and parents will receive free admission to this game. We look forward to seeing everyone on the court! As part of the program, all first-time players will receive their own 27.5" basketball. Returning players who no longer have their youth ball should either purchase a new one or bring their own, clearly labeled.

Led by experienced Brazilian coaches, players will learn through skill-based drills, small-sided games, and play-centered training that emphasizes creativity, teamwork, and individual development. Camp activities focus on improving fundamental soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control while encouraging players to build confidence and enjoy the game in a positive environment.     Instructors: Breakthrough Basketball Join Breakthrough Basketball for an intensive three-day camp designed to improve confidence, footwork and game ready scoring skills to elevate their game to the next level. Athletes will focus on shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, athleticism, decision-making, and 1-on-1 moves through a series of high-energy drills and game situations. To maximize skill development, players will be grouped by age and gender during individual skill work. With a 60-player limit per session, each athlete will receive plenty of repetitions, personalized instruction, and valuable feedback to enhance their performance.   • Build & Code Lego Robotics Camp, Gr. 4-8

    Every participant will build and program their own robot to complete fun challenges, including navigating mazes, following winding paths, sensing and avoiding obstacles, creating simple mechanisms, and even performing a robot dance. Students will explore, experiment, and create using coding blocks, LEGO Technic parts, sensors, motors, and the programmable LEGO Spike Prime hub. This class is perfect for kids interested in LEGO League or looking to develop their robotics and programming skills.
  • Cheer Skills Camp

    Grades 4-5 Instructor: Cheer Team Alumni, Evelyn Bonnifield The DC Cheer program is a sideline and competitive cheerleading program designed to build school spirit while fostering a supportive team environment. Participants will learn the fundamentals of cheerleading, including motions, kicks, jumps, cheers, dances, and basic stunting. This program helps lay the foundation for strong cheerleading skills and overall athletic development in the years ahead. Our goal is to introduce athletes to cheer at a young age and help them discover a love for the sport and all it has to offer. During each session, participants will spend time working with the DC Cheer team and coaches as well as a Cheer team alumni coach, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and confidence.

  • Football: St. John's University Football Camp, Gr. 8-11

    Grades 8-11DC football players have the opportunity to attend a team camp at Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota on Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28. The camp is hosted by Saint John’s University and some SJU coaches will be providing instruction. In addition, many of our DC football coaches will be there to supervise and give instruction on DC specific schemes and techniques. During this camp we may also do a 7 on 7 practice with another local school. Players will be required to ride district provided school bus transportation to and from Saint John’s University. The camp cost includes lunch and supper on Monday as well as all three meals on Tuesday. Players will be padded during these practices and there will be contact. Players must abide by all SJU Campus rules and expectations set forth at camp. If they do not, they will be sent home, and parents will need to come and pick them up. In Coach Weinandt's 22 years of coaching at DC our players have always been well behaved and that expectation is that will continue at this camp. The cost for the camp is $130 and checks should be made out to Saint John’s University and will be turned in when we arrive at camp. It is best to turn in payment in advance to Community Education or Coach Weinandt.     Fall 2026-2027 Grades 5 & 6This football program emphasizes both the fundamentals of tackle football and executing plays. Team rosters, assigned by coaches, will rotate weekly, allowing players to gain diverse game experience. Participants will compete against teams from the surrounding area as part of the Wright Co. Youth Football League, playing four Saturday morning games consisting of two 30-minute running halves. Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from games. All necessary football equipment, including mouthguards, will be provided.Players only need to bring tennis shoes or cleats (no metal spikes). Personal football equipment is not permitted. Equipment and locker assignments will be distributed during the Equipment Handout on August 31. Attendance is strongly encouraged to ensure players are properly fitted before the first practice. Our focus is to create a fun and competitive environment while enhancing football skills and preparing athletes for higher levels of play. Many standout Chargers players have honed their abilities through these camps. Participants will receive instruction on fundamental techniques, individual and team play, special teams, and both offensive and defensive strategies.     Grades K-7 Instructors: HS Varsity Coaches and Players The Dassel-Cokato Football Camps are in their 23rd year of existence. HIT is an acronym for the attitude in our football program. Our athletes play Hard-Intelligently-and as a Team. These camps are coached by the varsity staff and players and are for all levels of players. The camp goals are to have fun, improve football skills and prepare athletes for the next level of competition. The majority of the players that have excelled on the field for the Chargers have participated in these camps. Participants will receive instruction in running, blocking, passing, receiving, tackling, special teams, stances, and position-specific techniques, with advanced skill refinement for older grade levels. Campers will be grouped by age to ensure appropriate training. Optional camp T-shirts are available for an additional fee—register separately under Activity #0006. T-shirt order deadline: June 25.
  • Golf: Youth Summer Program

    Grades 3-6Instructor: Jr. High Golf Coach, Brok Huikko & other volunteers and golf members The Youth Summer Golf Program focuses on developing skills through fun activities and age-appropriate instruction, with golf fundamentals and etiquette at the core. Participants will learn the basics of grip, posture, and aim while rotating through stations at the putting green, tee box, sand trap, and driving range to practice putting, chipping, and full swings. As the program progresses, players will have increasing opportunities to spend time on the course, applying their skills through drills, contests, and fun challenges designed to build confidence and reinforce what they’ve learned. The program is open to all skill levels, though a basic understanding of the game is helpful. Our goal is to inspire young golfers to develop a passion for the sport while building self-confidence and improving their skills. Participants must provide their own equipment, including golf balls, tees, and at least a driver, putter, and three irons. Please wear comfortable clothing, athletic closed-toe shoes, and dress for the weather. Class will not be held during inclement weather and sessions will not be made up. Students with a Cokato Town & Country Club membership may participate at a reduced rate. Enrollment is limited to 40 participants, so register early to secure your spot.

Swimmers are grouped by skill level, not necessarily by age. It is recommended to have passed Red Cross Level 4 to participate White Level (Approx. ages 12 & under): Requirement: Able to swim 25's of freestyle and backstroke. Silver Level (Approx. ages 12 & under): Requirement: Able to complete 50's in all four strokes, and 100 IM. Swimmers in this level will also be able to swim in Hutchinson with a USA Swimming Membership. A maximum of 4 practices a week are included. Age Group (Approx. ages 12 & under): This is our highest level of developmental age group competitive swimming where swimmers are proficient in all four strokes. Workouts consist of approx. 3,000 yards. Swimmers in this level will also be able to swim in Hutchinson with a USA Swimming Membership. A maximum of 5 practices a week are included. Senior Groups (Approx. ages 13 & Above): These groups are considered our competitive program for developed swimmers.
