Art Studio
In this 4 session class, students will build their artistic confidence and ability all while learning to enjoy the process of creating art. Students will create projects and learn to use art supplies and tools within a variety of mediums such as painting, clay modeling, sculpture, leathercraft, decoupage, and more! Each session is unique and will allow these young artists an opportunity to experiment with a new art medium each time. Bring along a snack/water bottle to class. -
Basketball: Grades K & 1
All boys and girls in grades K-1 are invited to join us for a fun and safe introduction to basketball through our recreational Saturday program. Participants will learn basic basketball skills and enjoy playing in a supportive environment. As a highlight, players will have the exciting opportunity to participate during halftime of a home varsity basketball game (date to be determined). Both players and parents will receive free admission to this game. We look forward to seeing everyone on the court! As part of the program, all first-time players will receive their own 27.5" basketball. Returning players who no longer have their youth ball should either purchase a new one or bring their own, clearly labeled. -
Cheerleading: Charger Junior Cheer
Instructors: DC High School Cheer Coaches Paech & Hanson and Cheerleaders Join the Dassel-Cokato Cheerleaders for an exciting introduction to cheerleading! Open to students in grades K–6, this program offers a fun, high-energy experience where participants will learn basic cheerleading skills and prepare a halftime performance for the Varsity Boys Basketball Game on January 23. Each session will include engaging games, cheers, jumps, stunts, and a dance routine. Registration includes a t-shirt, pom poms, and a bow—please indicate shirt size at registration. All youth cheer participants and their parents receive free admission to the game! For the performance, participants should wear tennis shoes, their program t-shirt, bow, and black or blue bottoms (black leggings preferred). Cheerleaders will meet in the cheer room prior to the game to rehearse and will be escorted to the gym for their performance. Afterward, parents should check out their child with a coach and pick them up from the south hallway near the band room. Note: Due to limited space in the cheer room, parents and guardians will not be able to stay during practices. Please drop participants off at the start of class and return for pick-up at the end. Child & Babysitting Safety Program
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute offers comprehensive training to ensure safe and successful babysitting. It covers everything from starting a babysitting business to essential safety, caregiving, and first aid practices. Upon completing the course and meeting the core learning objectives, students receive a certification valid for two years, and instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. -
Cloud Game Development
Grades 1-3 Learn about the exciting process of cloud and mobile app development with this hands-on class. We will create our own Flappy Bird game. Students will use Constructs 3, a visual coding platform that teaches students the basics and structure of programming and game design. Cookie Monsters for Kids (and ADULTS)
Instructor: Laurel Severson Kids, their favorite adult and cookies... what a terrific combination! Designed for kids age 6 and up, you will create and take home 6 kinds of cookies. Rolled Sugar Thins will be ready for kids to paint and original designs using food coloring and paint brushes. Kids and adult helper will mix, shape and bake the famous Peanut Butter Balls. Already mixed and ready for shaping will be Chocolate Mint, Pepper nuts, Sugar Drops to be dipped in assorted sprinkles and finally multi-colored Spritz cookies. Bring containers to transport your cookies home to enjoy immediately or freeze them. -

Firearm Safety
Participants must have turned 11 years old by 11/1/2025. Sponsored by the Rainbow Sportsmen's Club The firearm safety classes consist of a minimum of 12 hours of classroom and range experience in the safe handling of firearms and hunter responsibility. Students will learn safe gun handling, gun care and storage, hunter responsibility, gun safety in the home, marksmanship and more. One range day experience will be scheduled sometime toward the end of the school year, as weather permits, at Rainbow Sportsmen’s Club, and will allow students to learn and demonstrate commonly accepted principles of safety in hunting and the handling of firearms. It includes live fire on a rifle range. Students are required to attend the entirety of all classes and the range day. If a minor, a parent/guardian must sign a waiver at the beginning of the first class. A fee of $7.50 will be paid to the DNR online after the completion of the class. Register early--maximum 35. Note: for more courses in the area visit www.dnr.state.mn.us You will be notified when a gun safety manual and homework list is ready to be picked up from the Community Education office prior to the course beginning. Gymnastics Mini Camp
Instructors: Charger Gymnasts Join the Charger gymnasts for an exciting mini-camp where you can jump, twist, turn, and tumble! This camp is designed to introduce basic gymnastics skills on all four apparatuses: vault, bars, beam, and floor. Participants will work on improving flexibility, balance, coordination, strength, and self-confidence in a positive and safe environment. For more experienced youth gymnasts, this mini-camp offers additional time in the gym, learning from our high school gymnasts in a fun and energetic setting. Please come prepared in appropriate gymnastics attire—leotards and tumble shorts, with hair tied back, no jewelry, and don’t forget your water bottle. Get ready for a fantastic experience! -

Tumblers Level 1-4, Grades K-6 Tumblers 1: This class teaches beginning tumbling with an emphasis on Floor skills; in addition, it also introduces your gymnast to the Vault, Bars and Beam. This level is for students with little or no previous gymnastics experience, but are ready to jump, roll and twist! Gymnasts must master the following skills to progress to Tumblers 2: lunge to handstand, backward roll to feet, bridge, lunge cartwheel, jump to front support & casts. Hockey: D-C Youth Rec
Grades K-9 D-C Youth Rec Hockey offers kids a fun, supportive environment to learn how to skate and play the game of hockey. The program focuses on skating, individual skills, team play, and scrimmages. No skating experience? No problem—we’ll teach you! Practices are held at the DC Rec Center from December through February, giving players a consistent setting to build skills and confidence on the ice. Equipment: Participants must provide skates, a helmet with a face mask, and a stick. A full set of hockey gear is recommended but not required. All players are also required to purchase a hockey jersey unless they already have one from a previous season (jerseys may be reused in future years). Please indicate jersey size during registration. Season Celebration: Mark your calendars! The season wraps up with an End-of-the-Year Party on Saturday, Feb. 28, featuring grade-level scrimmages and an open skate session for families. A full party schedule will be shared closer to the event. Bonus: Each player receives a FREE Open Skate Pass (valid December 2025–February 2026), distributed at the first practice.
