Basketball: Gr. 3 Second Season
Grade 3 Boys & Girls Instructor: Coach Levno Attention students! If you just finished the In-house 3 on 3 League with Coach Levno, you have the chance to extend your basketball season with additional training sessions. These sessions will focus on preparing you for traveling league 5 on 5 basketball as you move into 4th grade next year. Please remember, participation in the winter 3 on 3 league is required to join this second season, and there will be a limit on class size. Don't forget to bring your own youth basketball. Basketball: Grades K & 1
All boys and girls in grades K-1 are invited to join us for a fun and safe introduction to basketball through our recreational Saturday program. Participants will learn basic basketball skills and enjoy playing in a supportive environment. As a highlight, players will have the exciting opportunity to participate during halftime of a home varsity basketball game (date to be determined). Both players and parents will receive free admission to this game. We look forward to seeing everyone on the court! As part of the program, all first-time players will receive their own 27.5" basketball. Returning players who no longer have their youth ball should either purchase a new one or bring their own, clearly labeled. -

Chargers Baseball Camp Spring Training
Instructors: Varsity Coaches and Players. Brush the dust off your glove and bat by joining the Spring Charger Baseball Clinic. This is the perfect opportunity to prepare for the upcoming baseball season. Players will rotate through various stations focused on hitting, pitching, throwing, catching, and fielding. The varsity coaches will provide personalized instruction in small groups, ensuring that each player refines their fundamentals. This clinic will help players warm up and get back into the swing of things! Bring your glove, bat and wear tennis shoes and athletic apparel. Registration includes a Chargers Baseball t-shirt! Cheerleading: Charger Junior Cheer
Grades K-8 Join the Dassel-Cokato Cheerleaders and be part of the excitement before the homecoming football game on October 4th! The Junior Cheerleaders program welcomes girls and boys in grades K-4, offering a fun introduction to cheerleading. Participants will engage in games, learn fundamental cheerleading skills, and apply them in a routine featuring dance, cheers, jumps, and basic stunts. Don't miss this opportunity to cheer and have fun with us! Registration includes a t-shirt, bow, and poms. Please specify your preferred shirt size when registering. To secure a t-shirt, registration must be completed by September 6. Performance Details: Participants are required to dress appropriately for the weather and wear tennis shoes. They should wear their program t-shirt and bow, along with black or blue bottoms (preferably black leggings). Parents will receive complimentary admission to the football game. After the performance, parents are requested to pick up their child at the north side of the bleachers. -
Child & Babysitting Safety Program
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute offers comprehensive training to ensure safe and successful babysitting. It covers everything from starting a babysitting business to essential safety, caregiving, and first aid practices. Upon completing the course and meeting the core learning objectives, students receive a certification valid for two years, and instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. -
Clay Exploration: Build & Create Workshop
Join us for an exciting journey into the world of clay! This hands-on course is perfect for young artists eager to unleash their creativity while learning the fundamentals of pottery and handbuilding. Participants will explore slab construction techniques to craft a unique vessel, complete with various textures and surface designs. After their creations are bisque fired, students will return the following week to glaze their masterpieces. The final session includes an introduction to throwing on the wheel, allowing them to experience a new pottery technique. All supplies are included, so just bring your imagination and a willingness to get a little messy! Don’t miss this chance to create and take home your own ceramic art! -
Create A Cozy Flannel Pillowcase
Stay cozy all winter with this snuggly snowflake pillowcase! In this class, students will learn how to pin fabric and use a straight stitch on the sewing machine and make a pillowcase using the "burrito" method. Students will have their choice of coordinating trim color. All pillowcase supplies are included in the class cost. (Pillow not included.) -
Firearm Safety
Participants must have turned 11 years old by 11/1/2024. Sponsored by the Rainbow Sportsmen's Club The firearm safety classes consist of a minimum of 12 hours of classroom and range experience in the safe handling of firearms and hunter responsibility. Students will learn safe gun handling, gun care and storage, hunter responsibility, gun safety in the home, marksmanship and more. One range day experience will be scheduled sometime toward the end of the school year, as weather permits, at Rainbow Sportsmen’s Club, and will allow students to learn and demonstrate commonly accepted principles of safety in hunting and the handling of firearms. It includes live fire on a rifle range. Students are required to attend the entirety of all classes and the range day. A parent/guardian must sign a waiver at the beginning of the first class. A fee of $7.50 will be paid to the DNR online after the completion of the class. Register early--maximum 35. Note: for more courses in the area visit www.dnr.state.mn.us You will be notified when a gun safety manual and homework list is ready to be picked up from the Community Education office prior to the course beginning. There is coursework/reading to be completed prior to the first classroom date. -
Gymnastics Mini Camp
Instructors: Charger Gymnasts Join the Charger gymnasts for an exciting mini-camp where you can jump, twist, turn, and tumble! This camp is designed to introduce basic gymnastics skills on all four apparatuses: vault, bars, beam, and floor. Participants will work on improving flexibility, balance, coordination, strength, and self-confidence in a positive and safe environment. For more experienced youth gymnasts, this mini-camp offers additional time in the gym, learning from our high school gymnasts in a fun and energetic setting. Please come prepared in appropriate gymnastics attire—leotards and tumble shorts, with hair tied back, no jewelry, and don’t forget your water bottle. Get ready for a fantastic experience! -
Gymnastics: Parent Child: Ages 2-5, not in Gr. K
Ages 2-5, not yet in Gr. K and their parent/guardian Looking for some gym time during the cold winter months? Obstacle courses and stations will keep your child busy learning gymnastics skills while burning energy and having fun. Parents MUST be out on the floor with their child/children and actively participate with them. The instructor will demonstrate and offer assistance with the skills and gym circuit while you lead your child through the four apparatuses. -
Gymnastics: Tumblers 1: Gr. K-6
Grades K-6 This class teaches beginning tumbling with an emphasis on Floor skills; it also introduces your gymnast to the Vault, Bars, and Beam. This level is for students with little or no previous gymnastics experience but are ready to jump, roll and twist. Gymnasts must master the following skills to progress to Tumblers 2: lunge to handstand, backward roll to feet, bridge, lunge cartwheel, jump to front support & cast. Dassel-Cokato Tumblers gymnastics program is led by long-time gymnastics coach, Paula Wente. She is set to inspire the love of gymnastics within your child and help them develop through multiple levels. This level will continue your gymnast’s training and development of the basic skill sets of tumbling; it will also add more challenges involving all four apparatus, with a continued emphasis on the Floor. The coach’s placement evaluation is required for this level. Gymnasts must master the following skills to progress to Tumblers 3: kick-over, handstand to bridge, run hurdle cartwheel, glide swing, kick-over/pull over & casts push away. Gymnastics: Tumblers 3: Gr. K-6
This is the next level for those gymnasts who have mastered the basic skill sets required in Levels 1 & 2. This level will continue to strengthen those skills already obtained. In this level added emphasis will be on form. The coach’s placement evaluation is required for this level. Gymnasts must master these skills to advance to Tumblers 4: back extension, run hurdle round-off, handstand forward roll, front handspring, pullover, back hip circle & shooting star/underswing dismount. Gymnastics: Tumblers 4: Gr. K-6
After completing Levels 1-3, this level will be the next challenge; mastery of previous skills will continue and an increased attention to the development of more difficult skills will be emphasized. Conditioning will be introduced to assist in becoming stronger and more confident. The coach’s placement is required for this level. Skills acquired in this level, but not limited to, include: back walkover, front handspring, back handspring, start of aerial cartwheel, kips, squat on, tap swings & clear hip circle. High Tides Age Group
High Tides Competitive Swim Club is a great group of professionally coached athletes that learn valuable lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and personal achievement while having a ton of fun in the pool. Age Group Level (Approx. ages 12 & under): This is our highest level of developmental age group competitive swimming where swimmers are proficient in all four strokes. Workouts consist of approx. 3,000 yards. Swimmers in this level will also be able to swim an additional 2 days per week in Hutchinson with a USA Swimming Membership. This group is part of our competitive program for developing swimmers. Swimmers will be guided through the levels of competition they are developmentally ready for, learning about themselves as athletes along the way. Swimmers are grouped by skill level, not necessarily by age. It is recommended to have passed Red Cross Level 4 to participate. Each swimmer is assigned to a specific practice group by the coaching staff after an initial skill evaluation when joining the team. The Coaching staff makes all decisions regarding initial group placement and all subsequent group changes for an athlete. Coaches will initiate communication with parents when a swimmer becomes ready for another group level. Although times are a partial basis for group placement, our program focuses on swimming skills and techniques as well as aerobic and strength conditioning, and works to ensure success for swimmers as they move through levels so they will be comfortable and consistent with the demands of the group they are moving into. Maintenance Requirement: (Approx. ages 13 & above): These athletes are staying in shape or preparing for their upcoming high school sports season. A maximum of 3 practices a week are included. This group is considered our competitive program for developed swimmers. These swimmers have a maturity level that enables them to be self motivated and responsible for their swimming success. Each swimmer is assigned to a specific practice group by the coaching staff after an initial skill evaluation when joining the team. The Coaching staff makes all decisions regarding initial group placement and all subsequent group changes for an athlete. Coaches will initiate communication with parents when a swimmer becomes ready for another group level. Although times are a partial basis for group placement, our program focuses on swimming skills and techniques as well as aerobic and strength conditioning, and works to ensure success for swimmers as they move through levels so they will be comfortable and consistent with the demands of the group they are moving into. Swimmers will be required to master certain skills, perform at specific levels in training, and exhibit certain behavioral criteria to be promoted to the next swimming level. -

These swimmers have a maturity level that enables them to be self motivated and responsible for their swimming success. Each swimmer is assigned to a specific practice group by the coaching staff after an initial skill evaluation when joining the team. The Coaching staff makes all decisions regarding initial group placement and all subsequent group changes for an athlete. Coaches will initiate communication with parents when a swimmer becomes ready for another group level. Swimmers in this level will also be able to swim an additional 1 day per week in Hutchinson with a USA Swimming Membership. This group is part of our competitive program for developing swimmers. Swimmers will be guided through the levels of competition they are developmentally ready for, learning about themselves as athletes along the way. Swimmers are grouped by skill level, not necessarily by age. It is recommended to have passed Red Cross Level 4 to participate. Each swimmer is assigned to a specific practice group by the coaching staff after an initial skill evaluation when joining the team. The Coaching staff makes all decisions regarding initial group placement and all subsequent group changes for an athlete. Each swimmer is assigned to a specific practice group by the coaching staff after an initial skill evaluation when joining the team. Hockey: D-C Youth Rec
Grades K-9 Here is your chance to try out the Youth Rec Hockey program before commiting to the full season or brush up on your skating, stick handling, shooting, and passing skills before the program begins in January. DC Youth Rec Hockey coaches will be on hand to assist skaters on skills and hockey drills. New this year, practices will kick off indoors at the Rec Center in December, providing extra ice time for skill development before the outdoor rink opens. From January through February, players will alternate between outdoor practices at Mooers Park in Cokato and indoor practices at the DC Rec Center, weather permitting. Participants are required to bring their own equipment: skates, helmet with mask, and a stick. A full set of equipment is recommended but not mandatory. Each participant must also purchase a hockey jersey, unless they already have one from a previous year. Specify your jersey size during registration; subsequent jersey purchases will not be necessary. End of the Year Party on Saturday, February 22nd, featuring grade-level scrimmages and an open skate session for families. Scrimmages: Gr. 7-9: 9-10 am Gr. 5-6: 10:15-11:15 am Gr. 3-4: 11:30 am-12:30 pm Gr. K-2: 12:45-1:45 pm Family Open Skate: 1:45-2:45 pm As an added bonus, players will receive a FREE Open Skate pass to use during DC Rec Center open skate sessions. Please note the following regarding weather conditions: Outdoor practices will be canceled if the temperature is below zero degrees Fahrenheit. It is important to remember that parents have the discretion to decide whether or not their child attends practices based on weather conditions. Hockey Equipment Swap, November 18 • 6-7 pm • MS Commons, PAC DOOR: Are you looking to clear out unused hockey gear from your home or find some quality used equipment for your player? Join us at the Hockey Equipment Swap! Parents, bring your player along to try on gear for a proper fit. If skates are needed, ensure your child wears the socks they'll use when skating. Please note that this event is new, so we cannot guarantee the type or quantity of available hockey gear. -
Home Alone
Is your child prepared for the responsibility of staying home alone? This class empowers children with the confidence and skills needed to handle being home alone, whether it's just for an hour or throughout the day during summer breaks. Our comprehensive curriculum includes: age-appropriate guidelines, establishing safe habits and house rules, structuring after-school routines, managing phone calls and unexpected visitors, emergency protocols for pets, personal safety and unexpected situations handling, gun safety awareness, preparing for severe weather and fire emergencies, intruder alertness, and basic first aid techniques. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take-home information and discuss it with their child. -
