By taking lessons in the summer students will learn the fundamentals of playing a band instrument. Lessons will start at the basics with how to properly assemble their instrument, making a proper sound and become familiar with the first several pages in their method book. Method books are required as part of MS Band and they can be purchased at the beginning of summer lessons from the instructor. If a student did not participate in the band tryout sessions mid-April and are still interested in joining band a tryout session can be scheduled with the instructor before the end of the school year. If a current middle schooler, grade 5-8, has not participated in band previously they could enroll in these lessons in preparation of joining band this upcoming school year. Cheer Team: Summer ProgramCheer2024-2025 School Year Gr. 6-11 Instructor: DC Cheer Coaches, Stephine Paech & Lexi Wuetrich The D-C Cheer Team is a sideline and competitive cheerleading program that runs from June through early February. During the fall season, cheerleaders energize the crowd on the sidelines at football games, while in the winter, they compete against other teams across the state. This summer program is a vital part of the full cheer season, focusing on learning cheers, dances, and team-building while improving skills and conditioning for the months ahead. Summer participation is highly encouraged, but separate registration for the fall and winter seasons (September-February) takes place in late-July and October through the Activities Department. In addition to regular summer practices at Dassel-Cokato, cheerleaders are required to attend a Home Cheer Camp led by a Varsity clinician at an additional cost. Additional details will be announced at the Mandatory Parent & Cheerleader Info Night on June 9, where families can also learn about the D-C Cheerleading Booster Club and fundraising opportunities to help offset costs. Beyond practice, the D-C Cheer Team will showcase their spirit at local summer parades, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the community. Specific details on parade locations and staging times will be shared before each event.
