Robot Coding Camp, Gr. 5-8
Learn how to program a LEGO Spike Prime robot in Python using PyBricks, a versatile yet user-friendly coding platform that’s great for beginners. This class introduces the basics of text-based programming and shows how code can control sensors, motors, and robot movement. Participants will explore the structure of a Python program, work with variables and functions, and learn how to use logic and simple debugging techniques to improve their code.
As their skills grow, students will apply what they learn to real robot challenges such as navigating paths, responding to sensors, and completing tasks. Along the way they will experiment with reading sensor data, controlling motors, creating movement functions, and even using keyboard controls to drive their robots or build simple multiplayer robot games.
This hands-on class is a great opportunity for students interested in robotics and coding to build problem-solving skills while learning how programming brings robots to life.
