AARP SMART Driver ProgramAdultCars have changed. So have traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads you travel every day. Some drivers aged 50-plus have never looked back since they got their first driver’s license, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit from refreshing their driving skills. By taking a driver refresher course, you’ll learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. Some topics that will be covered include: effects of medication on driving, how to reduce driver distractions, maintaining proper following distance, use of safety belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes and new technology, how to handle left turns, right-of-way, and roundabouts as well as age-related changes and how to adjust your driving to compensate. Upon completion of the course, you may be eligible to receive a multi-year auto insurance discount. Consult your agent for details. Class includes video, lectures, and discussion, no driving or written test. Included in the class fee are the AARP materials and a facility/host fee. Please bring a pen, your AARP card and driver's license to class. Pre-registration is required, and registration deadlines are one week prior to the class.Fall 2024
