Early Childhood Advisory CouncilECFE: Early Childhood Family Education ClassesJoin the Dassel-Cokato Advisory Council The Dassel-Cokato Early Childhood Advisory Council is a fantastic group of volunteers that provide support and feedback to the Dassel-Cokato Early Childhood Programs regarding early learning and parenting opportunities such as Play and Learn Preschool, Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), and special events. YOU can become part of this dynamic group! We need the input of parents, grandparents, and community members like you to work together with us to identify and address the needs of Dassel-Cokato families with young children. This council meets monthly (8 months) and free childcare is provided. If you would like to visit with a council member and/or join the advisory council, please call reach out to Angela Smith, Early Childhood Coordinator, at 320-286-4120. Purpose The purpose of this Council shall be to insure the Early Childhood Programs provide support to parents in their efforts in raising children, offer child development information and alternative parenting techniques, help relay effective communication between parents and their children, supplement the discovery and learning experiences of children and promote positive parental attitudes through their children's school years. Membership Any person is eligible for membership to the Advisory Council, however, the Council will be made up of Early Childhood Family Education/Learning Readiness (preschool) parent-users and other interested residents of District 466. A maximum of 20 members will make up the Council. Members are eligible for: a once yearly $10.00 discount for classes during their service on the Council, waived the preschool registration fee and early preschool class registration in the spring.2025-2026

Focaccia, Stromboli, & Calzones! OH MY!CulinaryWhat makes a Focaccia a Focaccia, a Stromboli a Stromboli, and a Calzone a Calzone? How are they different? How are they the same? Discover the delicious answers to these questions as we explore the world of unique rolled & stuffed pizzas, marvelous focaccia bread, and an out-of-this-world pizza sauce made from the instructor’s own personal recipes. Using two different types of homemade dough—one crafted for pizzas and the other for the focaccia, you’ll learn how to create these Italian –inspired favorites step-by-step with confidence and ease. Participants are welcome to make them all or simply pick and choose their favorites to cook-along with, personalizing each creation with toppings and fillings of their choice. With rave reviews from past participants, this fun and flavorful experience just might make takeout pizza a thing of the past! Equipment Needs: A 9x13 non-stick baking pan or a larger sheet pan will be needed for the focaccia bread. Additional sheet pans will be needed for the Stromboli and the Calzones. A stand mixer is highly recommended in order to be able to make the dough for both options during the class. A list of ingredients and class details will be received in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and preparation. The Instructor’s Personal Recipes from this class will be included in a professionally made PDF packet to be received by participants after the class. Drop them off for an evening packed with fun—swimming, snacks, and a movie with friends.The night begins with an exciting splash in the pool, followed by a snack to refuel. After swimming, kids will settle in for a kid-friendly movie in a relaxed, fully supervised environment. It’s the perfect balance of active play and wind-down time. Please have your child arrive dressed for swimming and bring a towel. After pool time, they may change into comfortable clothes. Pillows and blankets are welcome for extra coziness during the movie. Parents must check in their child upon arrival. Early drop-offs are not permitted, and pre-registration is required. Silver Level (Approx. ages 12 & under): Requirement: Able to complete 50's in all four strokes, and 100 IM. Swimmers in this level will also be able to swim in Hutchinson with a USA Swimming Membership. A maximum of 4 practices a week are included. Age Group (Approx. ages 12 & under): This is our highest level of developmental age group competitive swimming where swimmers are proficient in all four strokes. Jump Into PreschoolECFE: Early Childhood Family Education ClassesYour child will have the chance to make new friends and gain preschool experience in this engaging class. The schedule includes a welcoming morning circle time, free play, snack, and large motor activities to support social, emotional, and physical development. Caregivers will bring their child to class, help them find their locker, and participate together in the 20-minute morning circle. After circle time, caregivers will say goodbye as children stay to enjoy classroom activities with their peers, fostering independence and confidence.
